July Bride's Fabric Bouquet & Flower Crowns

Yesterday, the bride of this fabric bouquet celebrated her first wedding anniversary with her husband. The bride is really close to me and I felt really sad that me and my family cannot attend her wedding in Manila. Instead, I promised her that I'm going to make her a bridal fabric bouquet, so that even if we're not there to witness her big day we are still part of her most cherished memories through this gift.

Thankfully, I've started making fabric bouquets already and were somewhat comfortable and confident on making such wedding piece. Plus, the bride's request is a bit similar to the first bouquet I did which made it a lot easier for me to create one.

The shades used were pink, cream, and mocha colors. Fabrics used were a mix of chiffon, satin, silk, and organza. I also used faux pearl for the flowers and a few crystal beads around the bouquet - rhinestones are hard to find here in Bohol.

In addition to the fabric bouquet, I also included two flower crowns for her flower girls. This, however, used artificial flowers; I only put them together to create the crows.

Gladly, the bouquet and flower crowns were delivered a few days before the wedding. And was happy to know that the bride really loved the bouquet.

I wish I can make a few more pieces like this and perhaps make it my creative career.

And to the bride, A, Happy Anniversary to you and your hubby! May you have more crazy years together until your hair turns gray. *wink*

Round Fabric Flowers: Semi-flat Poppies

ROUND and FLAT. This is the best way to describe this fabric flower collection.

Using the same process and fabric as CHA Collection, making these are pretty much simpler and easier than any flower I did.

Check out the collection!

Dainty Fabric Flowers: CHA Collection - Yoyos

Here's the CHA Collection of Yoyos. All made using the same fabric colors from the poppies - deep pink, tangerine, golden yellow, moss green, orchid, aqua blue, and light blue.

This is just a small fabric flower measuring around 1.25" in diameter. It is very tiny which is very perfect for adding details on craft projects.

Colorful Fabric Flowers: CHA Collection - Poppies

Who says we can't play colors with fabrics? We can!

Shopping for fabric has always been fun. With all the eye candy surrounding you inside the fabric store, you would definitely want to buy all the fabrics there.

That's what I did, sort of

I was so excited when I saw the fabrics, the colors were so adorable that I really want to buy all of it. But I have to stick with my budget, so I only bought the ones that were requested by my friend - she specifically wanted the CHA colors of 2014, thus naming this as the CHA collection.

Now, the fabrics were used for poppies and ruffled fabric flowers or yoyos - which sum up the collection.

I made two sizes for the poppies - 1.5" and 2.25" in diameter. The bigger flower is easier to make, I can comfortably burn the sides, unlike the smaller one which is very tough to make. I also used a piece of faux pearl in the center.

Fabric Bows: A Hit and Miss Project

I've never worked with grosgrain ribbons before and I find it amusing that these ribbons were made of fine quality materials that made them heavy and stiff. Which, actually, is perfect for creating bows.

Grosgrain is a very popular type of ribbon used in creating hair accessories. I've seen many pieces made of these and I find them really cute.

So aside from the usual fabric flowers that I'm making, I kind of stepped out of my comfort zone and tried to do the simplest possible bow that I could make.

I bought 7 pieces of grosgrain bows and tried my hand on bow-making. However, since I only bought one size, I totally forgot that I needed a smaller size for the center. Instead, I used my fabrics to complete the bows.

At first, I find it pretty cool incorporating fabric with grosgrains... but in the long run, I find it weird and decided not to use this combination ever again. *giggles*

Anyway, this is just part of a 'trial & error' process in producing pieces. I'm just glad I didn't create too much and just had enough number for the sample bows.

And yes, I learned - grosgrains are for grosgrains. *wink
