Day 10-16: September Calligraphy Challenge

This week's #HappyLetteringChallenge was a bit toned down when it comes to colors and papers used for calligraphy.
But of course, the progress is still more important which is, I think, pretty good. I'm satisfied with my pointed pen calligraphy, I somewhat tried a little flourishing on Day11, but of course, I need more improvement on this and I'm really aiming to learn the different flourishing techniques.

However, brush lettering's the opposite. I'm really not sure what happened, but I think it has something to do with the watercolor I'm using; it doesn't inspire me anymore and I'm not getting the outcome that I've been aiming for. For the past few weeks, I've been thinking of buying a new one, which I think is about time if I'm going to expand my calligraphy skills with wreath and florals and foliage. I've been eyeing Winsor and Newton, Dr. Ph.Martin's Hydrus Fine Art Watercolor and Prima Watercolor Confections, specifically the Pastel Dreams. But I guess, for now, I'm going to settle with Prima.

Oh my, hopefully, I'll get my hands on them really soon! And while we're waiting for that day to come, please check out my Days 10-16 of #HappyLetteringChallenge.

My Mom's Purple Asters

09.10.17 | Bohol, Philippines | Photo by Aine Garcia

I deeply adore flowers and it is only now that I'm more interested in them than before.

One of my favorites is this daisy-like flower - Purple Aster. This flower is really meaningful for me, it symbolizes a new beginning for my mother. And every time I looked at them, I am always reminded of my parent's most-awaited day.

However, as much as I wanted to keep them close to me, I stopped placing them in my room because of my unending allergic rhinitis. Ahhh, allergens! But it's okay, I can freely gaze at them from my mother's garden. *smile*

Day 01-02: September Calligraphy Challenge

It's been a while since I joined a lettering challenge on Instagram and finally I picked up my pen again and started to do what I love the most. After a few months of hiatus from crafting and calligraphy, I'm happily sharing to you the first 2 days of this month's daily practice - #HappyLetteringChallenge.

Created by the team of Ida, Tyra & Chrystal, @happyletteringchallenge is a hand lettering challenge created to practice the art of hand lettering every day. Daily prompts are given days before the month starts so anyone who wants to participate could get ready.

This is my first time to join #HappyLetteringChallenge as I used to do #TogetherWeLetter, I'm not sure though what happened to them as they're not regularly posting anymore. That's why I'm really glad I found a lettering challenge that I'm comfortable and excited to be a part of.

So here goes to my first 2 days of #HappyLetteringChallenge.

Day01: Savory

Day02: Delicious

And if you want to join the fun, head over HERE for September's daily prompts. Enjoy!

Hello, Snail Mail!

Another snail mail for me! Yay!

It's been a long time and I'm so glad to get another one from my friend. We're both busy that's why it took long before a mail has been sent, but it's okay! No pressure at all, as long as we enjoyed sending and receiving... that's what is more important! *smile*

This mail is a bit different from what I first got from her. The envelope already has a design, so no need to put washi or designs on it. And I like it! I'm a cat person and I love how the kitty silently napping under the drawers. I loved how she picked the perfect stationery for this snail mail.

The letter is longer than the last one as well. And as always, the letter is meaningful and thoughtfully handwritten by a good friend. Thank you, thank you!

I also liked how my friend came up with all the cute stuff included in the mail. The handwritten letter, of course, lovely ephemeras, and 1 sticker sheet cut into half to fit in the envelope.

By the way, the sticker is personally made by her. Doodled, digitized, and printed by my friend.

And the ephemeras or die cuts, on the other hand, came from Rosie's Studio and Pink Paislee.

Loved everything! Thank you! 'Til next snail mail.

Iced Coffee Chill Out!

05.11.17 | Bohol, Philippines | Photo by Aine Garcia
{Homemade Iced Coffee}
1 sachet Nescafé CreamyWhite + more Coffee + Sugar + Milk + Ice

When the weather is too hot and you're too stressed out because people won't cooperate while you're beating the deadline for your task. Ugh!

This is usually the time that makes me miss Starbucks Coffee so much! But getting a Java Chip or Caramel Frappuccino is way impossible from where I live. I'm just glad I have this Starbucks Logo Cold Cup Dome Lid Tumbler and made my own iced coffee!

Relaxing!

My Favorite Mais Keso!

04.23.17 | Bataan, Philippines | Photo by Aine Garcia

It's summer and the sun is so out!

One of my most-looked-forward every time we go home to hubby's hometown in Bataan is this homemade ice cream. It tastes so good that it reminds me of mamang sorbetero's Sorbetes; rich in flavor and not too sweet, hindi nakakasawa

So whether it's Christmas, New Year, someone's birthday, or even without an occasion, I always request this! And there's no other flavor could satisfy my cravings, except my favorite Mais Keso. *yummy yum yum*

Until then Geno's Ice Cream, see you on our next vacation!
